NATIVE GERMANS

What is it about?

This work shows conceptual portraits of mothers and their babies. All mothers are German citizens each with an individual history of migration. Scientists and politicians define national identities with abstract concepts such as Majority Society, Multiculturalism, Interculturalism, Transculturalism. This work confronts abstract and ambiguous terminologies with real-life examples. Eventually every viewer has to decide how and with what relevance he or she wants to answer the question “Who and what is German, after all?”.

Who can participate?

Mothers with a history of migration. Your child should be roughly between 1 to 2 years of age.

Until when and with what purpose will this work be finalised?

Depending on the overall quantity of participants this project shall be completed early 2020 with an exhibition. For the expenses of the exhibition and the corresponding catalogue public funds shall be collected.
